Nature’s Jamboree is an advocacy and engagement platform for environment conservation and sustainable living, founded by SoCHE Foundation. It is an effort to achieve SoCHE’s vision statement for 2035 that mentions – “Influence at least 10 million lives in urban and rural areas for sustainable living, enabling behavior change for a cleaner planet.” Nature’s Jamboree, therefore, aims to raise awareness on environment conservation & sustainable living by engaging people through art, culture & literature.

Back Cover Text

Children, their world and their thoughts enlighten me more than any other source. It’s always a pleasure to engage with children’s literature and poetry.

Masanobu Fukuoka in his book “The One Straw-Revolution” writes about how an understanding of nature lies beyond the reach of human intelligence. He writes, “Almost everyone thinks that ‘nature’ is a good thing, but few can grasp the difference between natural and unnatural…That which is conceived to be nature is only the idea of nature arising in each person’s mind.”

Through Nature’s Jamboree, we are therefore targeting different sections of society to rekindle the sense of power in a common person.

This initiative by Nature’s Jamboree that brings children and nature together is not only relevant to present times but also instills a sense of awareness and responsibility in them. They become more sensitive towards the need to preserve their planet. In our Indian tradition we revere nature because it sustains us. Mother Earth, as we call it, nurtures us lovingly. Children should be sensitized to save it from abuse and neglect.
