This manual is specially compiled and edited for the students of Home Science Colleges. Since Ergonomics is the new subject introduced in the undergraduate program, the students are not much aware about the subject, therefore an attempt has been made to explain and introduce the basic methods and principles of ergonomics. This manual will help the students to understand the methods used in ergonomics and apply it to conduct various research. The methods discussed here are well known and practiced widely by researchers and students. Utmost care has been taken to compile and introduce simple ergonomic assessment techniques and instruments used for measuring various ergonomics parameter based on human, work and working environment. For better understanding, each chapter is explained with the relevant theoretical information, illustrations and figures from various published work by eminent researchers. Manjit Kaur Chauhan has been associated with Department of Family Resource Management, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai, since 1991. She began her career as a researcher, completed her Ph.D (Ergonomics) in 1997 and since 1998 she has been into academics. During her career, she conducted various researches, guided students in area of Ergonomics, undertook consultancy projects and has been coordinator for various Training Programs. She has published various research papers in international & national journals and conference proceedings. She is on the Editorial Board for Research Journal and is associated with various universities as an Examiner and Visiting Faculty.
