The UNESCO ‘Thematic Think Piece’ 2015 on Inclusive Education aptly points out that education, or the transmission, acquisition, creation and adaptation of information, knowledge, skills and values, is a key lever of sustainable development. This is based on a vision of inclusive societies in which all citizens have equitable opportunities to access effective and relevant learning throughout life delivered through multiple formal, non-formal and informal settings. Inclusive education has increasingly become a focus of debate in discussions about the development of educational policy and practice around the world. The level of awareness and attitude however, is still amenable to be brought under the scanner.
The present volume is a compilation of selected papers presented in the UGC Sponsored National Level Seminar titled “Inclusive Education: Policy. Practice and Prospects”, organised by Satyapriya Roy college of Education in collaboration with Jadavpur University. It is hoped that the book will spread awareness, knowledge and understanding of the core issues related to Inclusive Education.
