Usha Bande In The Indian Journal Of English Studies, Vol.50

“We Are Faced Here With The Inspired Writings Of An Enlightened Intellectual, A Man Of Passion, Whose Verse Is Imbued With Clarity Of Style And Concept.”

Bernard M. Jackson In The Commonwealth Review, Vol. 15, No.1

“What Remains Embedded In The Reader’s Mind In Most Of His Poems Are The Concluding Lines, Which, Like The Urdu Couplets, Are Pithy, Poignant, Memorable And Have A Stunning Effect, Like The Stroke Of A Hammer—a Trait One Can Find In Abundance In The Poetry Of Robert Frost And Nissim Ezekiel.”

Ramesh K Srivastava In The Journal Of Indian Writing In English, Vol.31 No.2

“He Lets His Experience Gestate And Shape Into Right Rhetoric.”

Manohar Bandopadhyay In Indian Literature, Vol.48, No.1

“The Thematic Concern Of The Poems In This Collection Ranges From Birth To Death; From Identity/ Ego To Cosmic Consciousness…from Science To Art To Religion; From Pain To Love, And From Suffering To Acceptance And Resignation, Thereby Capturing The Irony And Paradox Of Human Experience Itself.”

“Such Unpretentious…array Of Words And Images Gives Uniqueness To The Poems Of Jha And Enkindles A Freshness Of An Earthy Fragrance Of The First Monsoon Rain.”

“He Never Westernizes His Outlook Or Expression, As Majority Of The Indian English Writers Often Do. He Believes In Indian Tradition And Values Sans, Of Course, Suppression Of Women And Religious Bigotry; Yet He Never Imposes His Value System On His Readers.”

Late B. N. Singh In Rainbow Redemption: New Bearings In Indian English Poetry. (2007)
