Sulekha Samantaray (born 1954) has done her M.A. & M.Phil. in English Literature from the P.G. Department of English, Utkal Universality, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. She had started her professional career as a teacher in Buxi Jagabandhu English Medium School, Bhubaneswar where she worked for one and half years. She left this job to join as a lecturer under the Dept. of Higher Education, Odisha in 1977. Working in five different colleges for 37 years, she superannuated as a Reader in English from Prananath (Autonomous) College, Khordha in 2014.

She had started writing in Odia at an early age of eight and her first publication was in the children's literary page of a newspaper "Prajatantra" in 1967. While studying in college she started writing in English also and now she has established herself as a bilingual writer with seven published books to her credit. She has also published hundreds of poems, stories, essays, translations, features etc. in both Odia and English language. She has also published/Edited a registered monthly literary magazine in Odia language titled Mrunmayeefrom the year 2000 to 2005.
