Usha Bhatia: (b. 1947), spent her childhood in Shimla; went to school and college in Chandigarh. Being deeply interested in Behaviourial Sciences, especially Social Psychology, pursued Master's in Sociology; represented Sociological Association successfully as Member, P. U. Students' Council, 1968-69, and earned her Master's degree in Sociology, in 1969, from Panjab University, Chandigarh. Joined PCIIMER, Chandigarh, as Social Scientist, in 1970. Designed and conducted studies relating to medicine's interaction with social fabric. Worked for 37 years as Research Welfare Officer in various projects sponsored by WHO, ICMR, and Nil. Her interests include Painting, Gardening and Poetry. In Alind's Petri Dish is the first collection of her select 50 poems and 50 Haiku.
