The present book has as many as four chapters. Chapter 1 “The Absurd Theatre” is about the history of the western absurd theatre. Chapter 2 “The Absurd in Harold Pinter’s Early Plays” analyses Pinter five early plays The Room, The Birthday Party, The Caretaker, The Dumb Waiter and A Slight Ache, because of the similarities of the plays. Chapter 3 “The Absurd in Harold Pinter’s Later Plays” analyses The Homecoming, Landscape, Old Times, No Man's Land and Betrayal. Chapter 4 “Adaptations and Screenplays of Harold Pinter’s Plays” is a critical survey of the adapted plays. The latter part of the chapter examines Pinter’s screenplays.
Dr Prashant Mandre (b. 1986) of Dharwad has his Masters in English and PhD on Harold Pinter from Karnatak University, Dharwad. Now he teaches as a guest faculty at the prestigious Karnatak Arts College of the University. He is active in research and social work.
