This book is written for the understanding of graduates and post-graduate students as a text book and for the Pinter scholars. The comic and the elements of terror have been explored in the subsequent chapters. No critic in the past and the present has so far investigated the influence of Michael Bakhtin on Harold Pinter who uses black humor and the elements of the grotesque to dramatize the trapped condition of the characters. The game of language of Pinter is unique and is fully investigated in the book.

Dr J P Aggarwal is a senior Professor of English and a reputed writer, critic and novelist. He stayed in America for three years and visited many Universities to collect the material on American Drama and culture. He has supervised many Ph. D and M. Phil students and is currently engaged in writing another book: “Harold Pinter and After: a Bakhtian Reading of the Major Plays.” He has an experience of teaching, research and writing for more than four decades. He remained in America for three years as a researcher pursuing his Ph. D on American Drama. The present book is written to commemorate the memory of Naipaul who got Nobel Prize in literature.

Anum Mirza, a Ph.D. scholar from Lovely Professional University, Punjab was born on January 10, 1994 in district Rajouri of Jammu & Kashmir, India. Her father Mohd Sadiq Mirza is a retired. Senior Lecturer from D.I.E.T Rajouri. Her mother Parvez Akhter Mir is working as a teacher in a Government School. They are three siblings namely Nasir Mirza, an advocate in Jammu High Court and her elder sister Nazia Mirza who is currently working in the Jammu & Kasmir Bank. Ms. Anum was the Head Girl of Army Goodwill Public School Rajouri from 2009-2010 and she completed her schooling from the same school in the year 2010. She completed her graduation from Govt. P.G. College Rajouri in 2013. She has done her Masters in English from University of Jammu in the year 2015. In 2018 she qualified JKSET examination in English at the top Rank after securing the highest marks in her subject in the whole state. She has published numerous research papers in various international journals. She has presented her papers in various International Conferences a few of them are in Osmania University -Hyderabad, Jawaharlal Nehru University- New Delhi and National Institute of Technology Srinagar, Indian Science Congress 2019 in LPU and various other places as well. She is currently doing her Doctorate and is engaged in her research work. Her area of specialization is Mikhail Bakhtin.
