Book Description
“Joie’s verses create a rich visual landscape and hold up an evocative mirror to the universal feelings of love and intimacy”
– Vishal Bhardwaj, Winner of 7 National Awards for director, screenwriter, producer
Popularly known as the Love Poetess, Joie Bose, a popular performance poet wrote ‘Amour – Hymns to Aphrodite’, a series of 108 love poems, in her attempt to give 108 names to various aspects of love. These poems like wine, were kept in the cellar to age for a few years. 16 of the poems disappeared and hence never made it to this collection. She didn’t attempt to retrieve them either, for in love some things are better left unsaid. This manuscript won the prestigious Nissim Ezekiel award in 2018
Joie has performed extensively in many literary festivals in India including the coveted Bob Dylan Festival, Shillong. She has also toured with her poems to England, Scotland, Vietnam, China and Japan. She has won the Women par Excellence Award for Literature 2018 Bharat Nirman Award for Literature in 2019 and the Go Diva Motivational Speaker 2019. She had been given the Microsoft-GIZ fellowship in 2015 for using poetry to raise environmental awareness. A founder member and General Secretary of Poetry Paradigm, she is also the Executive Body member of Indian Poetry and performance Library.
A corporate professional by day and a writer by night, Joie is a certified Life Coach who does pro-bono counselling for Bonobology. She also wrote a popular series called ‘Confessions with Joie Bose’ which helped many people anonymously unmask their real selves.
