Dr Shruti Das is Associate Professor in the Department of English and theAssociate Director of Centre for Canadian Studies at Berhampur University inOdisha, India. She is a creative writer and a critic, writing bilingually in English and her native tongue Odia. She has published more than 60 research articles and numerous creative work in National and International Journals and books, and has written Nine books including two volumes of poetry, A Daughter Speaks: a Collection of poems (2013) and Lidless Eyes (2015). She is widely travelled and is member Board of Editors and member Advisory Body of many National and International Literary Journals. Her poetry has been published in many anthologies and journals in India and abroad, they have been translated into many languages. A translator and public speaker of repute, she has received international acclaim and has been placed in the Bibliography of Commonwealth Writers for her first volume of Poems, A Daughter Speaks in 2013-14 and been awarded the Author of the Month April 2017 by Spillwords, an international e-journal.
As a creative writer she wishes to reach out to more and more people. She has had the good fortune of living in sylvan surroundings, in pristine nature and is really sad to see most of it rapidly go. She wants to represent the sorrows of the women/children/troubled people across borders, because pain is universal and these are troubled times.
