In the present book the author presents his experiences of teaching in the colleges of Haryana from1981, when he joined his job as an Assistant Professor, to 2014 when he retired as Principal. The book describes his emotional and intellectual development as a man, a government officer and a teacher. But the narrative is not limited to his individual progress; it delves into many serious issues and problems infesting the present system of education in Haryana and our country in general. The narrative is full of funny and hilarious episodes, incidents and lively characters as well as serious discourses. Sometimes a bitter note is discernible but it points to the weaknesses in the system which needs improvement and reformation.
Dr. Balbir Singh (b. 1956, Panipat) passed his MA in English Literature in 1981 from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and PhD from M. D. University, Rohtak. After teaching English language and literature to undergraduate and postgraduate students for more than 32 years in different government colleges in Haryana he retired as Principal from Government College, Israna (Panipat) in 2014. In 2002 he was selected Associate of Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla. He was given Haryana Sahitya Akademi Award for his novel in English for the year 2013. He is a versatile genius and has to his credit many books of poetry, novel, criticism and memoirs in English as well Hindi. This is his twelfth book.
