K. Damodar Rao is Head, Department of English, Kakatiya University, Warangal, Telangana. He has published fourteen books of translation and criticism, and forty four articles in areas of Postcolonial Studies and Indian Fiction in English. He published his pioneering critical work, The Novels of Aye Kwei Armah in 1993. He has translated extensively from Telugu into English. His recent translated works and anthologies includeScent of the Soil: Selections from Telangana Kavitha 2006-2010. Ed (2011), Flames and the Man (Sahitya Akademi, 2012) Ode to Frontline Formations: An Anthology of Telangana Movement Poetry 2000-2011 Ed (2013), Ocean is My Name in 2014. He has won a prize in Literary Translation Contest organized by the central Sahitya Akademi on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee (1957-2007) of its bi-monthly, Indian Literature. Along with two of his colleagues, he has edited an anthology of essays Postcolonial Theory and Literature published in 2003. He had been the Associate Editor of the Kakatiya Journal of English Studies for nine volumes. He is jointly working on three edited anthologies, Postcolonial Indian English Fiction, Multiculturalism in Indian Tradition and Literature and Bhakti Movement and Literature: Re-forming a Tradition.
