Dr. M.A. Sudhir, Professor, Department of Applied Research and Dean, Faculty of Rural Development, Gandhigram Rural Institute, has more than 34 years of postgraduate teaching and research experience. He is a specialist in higher education reforms, rural development research and environmental education. He was on the Faculty of Education of North Eastern Hill University and Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh. He has also worked with Mitraniketan, People’s Experiment on Community Education, Vellanad, Kerala and Thakkar Bapa Service Foundation, Bangalore. He has been a referee and a member of the editorial boards of seven reputed journals in India. He designed the interdisciplinary innovative M.Phil programme in Research and Development, Integrated Bachelor of Education and Master of Education programmes currently offered at Gandhigram Rural Institute. He has successfully carried out so far 19 research projects and has guided researches both at the M.Phil and Ph.D levels, 25 candidates have been awarded Ph.D, and 8 scholars are pursuing Ph.D under his supervision. He is a member of the national organizations such as National Council of Educational Research and Training, Indian Academy of Social Sciences, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Kerala, Indian Association of Teacher Educators and has served as the member of the academic bodies of different Universities and Institutes. At present, he is working as the Academic Coordinator of the Department of Education, School of Professional Studies in Central University of Kerala, Kasaragod.
