Dr. (Mrs) Didcy Laloo hails from Jowai, West Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya, North East India. She did her M.Sc in the field of chemistry and Ph.D in chemistry (Chemical Kinetics) from North Eastern Hills University (NEHU), Shillong. She was a lecturer in chemistry in various government colleges in Meghalaya. Her association with IGNOU started in the year 1997 as an Assistant Regional Director and later got promoted as Regional Director IGNOU, Regional Centre, Shillong. She retired from Govt. Service on 29th Nov 2012. She feels that working as a Regional Director gives her responsibility to help the masses who are disadvantaged and live in rural areas. She works toward minimizing the dropout rate and encourages the learners in the region to continue their education. During her tenure as a lecturer as well as academician she found that rural areas in Meghalaya do not have the basic concepts necessary for understanding science. She has produced articles in the national and international journals.
