Mayura Tiwari was born and brought up in the beautiful tea estates of Darjeeling. She went to boarding school in Kurseong, a small town near Darjeeling, and then graduated with first class honours in Geography form Loreto College, Darjeeling. She has since then been living in New Delhi, where she freelanced as a voice over artiste and as a volunteer with Young INTACH for a few years.
She has trained teachers in the use of technology, worked as an editor and an instructional designer for several years, written scripts for audiovisual modules based on school curriculum and also written ebooks, again based on school curriculum.
She is currently teaching in an international school. Some of her poems have been published in newspapers and journals, including in Indian Literature, Journal of the Poetry Society of India, The Hindustan Times, Kala Darshan and Contemporary Vibes. She has also reviewed Sahitya Akademi award-winning Nepali works of poetry for Indian Literature.
