Shiv K. Kumar is one of the most distinguished Indian-English poets. He has been described by the Oxford Companion to Modern Poetry as ‘the most senior poets of the new post-independence Indian English poetry.’ His poems have been published in the New York Times, Poetry (London), Western Humanities Review, Ariel, etc., and broadcast over the BBC.
He has authored thirteen collections of poetry, six novels, two collections of short stories, a play, a translation of Faiz Ahmed Faiz into English, and several books of literary criticism – published by Random House, Penguin, Harper Collins, Oxford, MacMillan, Sidgwick Jackson, etc.
He has received several Indian and international honours including a Fellowship of the Royal Society of Literature (London), Padma Bhushan and Sahitya Akademi award.
