Dr Chandan Das (1996-2017) was born in 1966 in Cuttack, Odisha and breathed his last on 17th June 2017. Son of a doctor father and English professor mother, Chandan suffered from thalassemia majorat 11 months of age and much of his formal schooling was from home. He completed his MA in English from Ravenshaw College with three gold medals and went on to complete his PhD in Translation Studies from Utkal University in 2008 and was working as a Reader in English in S. B. Womens' College, Cuttack. Extremely talented, he has published an autobiography, The Road Taken (2015) when he was suffering from Cancer. He has translated two Odia Classics to English Lachhama (2013) and The Sunless Land (2016). His collection of poems in English entitled Tinted Glass was by published in 2017 by Access, New Delhi. He was awarded the Sahitya Bharati Award for translation in 2016. His poems have been published in anthologies and journals in India and abroad.
