While 99% of books write about the 1% exceptional people – by brilliance, or achievement or talent – just 1% of the books write about the 99% of the common man. This is that exceptional book falling under that 1% of books which tell the story of the 99% of the people for our yester year generation to understand how life was.
Dr. R. Parthasarathy, (b. 1947), a native of Karaikal in the U.T. Pondicherry, was on the staff of the Department of English at Tagore Arts College, K.M. Post Graduate Centre of Pondicherry, and A.Anna Govt. Arts College, Avvaiyar Govt. College for women of Karaikal and retired as the Principal of Dr. S.R.K. Govt. College at Yanam. Widely travelled in India and abroad, he pens, in his first book written after superannuation, his life from his early childhood at Karaikal through his school and college studies to the final days of his career as an academic. This memoir gives a picture of the days long gone by in the places he grew up and in the institutions he studied and served.
