WindSong reflects the seasons of the heart which are mirrored in nature and in people:
the wind is a metaphor for all the myriad variations in both natural and human life.
Nunes’ s poems mirror the splendour and magnificence of India, especially Bangalore, where she grew up, and Goa, where her roots are, the islands she has travelled to, the rivers that she has forded, the hills she has climbed. Some reflect the magic of mysterious Africa, where she was born.
This collection is stamped with the poet’s simplicity andsincerity but, above all, with her joy in life in all its manifestations: in the natural world, in dreams, hopes and longings. Welcome to her world !
To describe Selena Nunes is as difficult as grasping a wispof wind or trapping a sunbeam in a jar.
As a teenager, she ran a full-fledged circulating library forten years, immersing herself in the love for the writtenword. Her devotion to the classical poets, especially Wordsworth, made her name her dog Wordy.
Her life is built on faith: simple, child-like and unwavering. Her happiest moments have been on the banks of theRiver Cauvery and under the African starry sky.
She finds happiness, balance, inspiration andharmony in nature; loves wild flowers and trees. She lives in Bangalore, where she seeks and finds a daily spiritual bouquet – wayside flowers, the cherubic smile of a child, the kindness of strangers.
