The present critical work entitled Kiran Nagarkar’s Writings is partly a PhD work and partly the author’s extra study of the author’s other writings. Chapter Two is a survey of metro fiction in India as Nagarkar is a city writer. Chapters Three, Four and Five critically analyse his trilogy of novels Ravan and Eddie, The Extras, and Rest in Peace. Cuckhold that got the author Kendra Sahitya Academy Award in 2001 deals with Saint Mirabai’s husband Bhojraj. Chapter Six is about Nagarkar’s various plays and screenplays. The author has many more books to his credit. Nagarkar is one of the finest Indian English writers today.


About the Author


 

Dr Mahesh Balagi (b 1983) comes from the landed gentry in Dharwad. He has his higher education from Karnatak University, Dharwad. He did an M. Phil on “Basavaraj Naikar’s Light in the House and Herman Hesse’s Siddhartha: A Comparative Study” in 2009. He completed his PhD in 2019 on “The Metro Aspects of Kiran Nagarkar’s Novels.” Now he teaches in a Govt High School in Sattur, Dharwad. Later he continued his research work on Nagarkar and all that is embodied in this book.
