Prof. Sandeep Chahal, PG Department of English, Doaba College Jalandhar has translated the work, now titled as Basra Streets. Interestingly, the novel, plot of which deals with the invasion of Iraq in 2003 by USA. Dr Sharma has successfully created a microcosm out of a macrocosm by drawing an exquisite parallel between the Vietnam-US war and US-Iraq imbroglio. About the Book


 

Sandeep Chahal is an avid scholar of contemporary literature with a voracious penchant for research and studies in English Literature. He has to his acclaim 16 research papers of literature and language in famed international and national ISSN journals. He has also translated renowned Hindi novel Basra ki Galiyan into English as Basra Streets, in 2007, the first ever petro fiction on the estranged US Iraq imbroglio and oil politics. It was received with verve among the readers and media .Presently, he is working as Associate Professor in PG Department of English, in Doaba College, Jalandhar (Punjab).

Dr. Ajay Sharma is a doctor by profession and a writer by passion. He is an acclaimed Hindi novelist who has written 10 novels viz. Chehra aur Parchai, Khuli Hui Khidki, Akash Ka Sach, Basra Ki Galian, Kal Katha, Shehar Par Lagi Ankhen, Nau Dishayen, Bhagwa, Kagad Kalam Na Likhanhar & Samandar Aur Safed Gulab. He has also penned Drama Challa Mur Kay Ni Aaya in Punjabi. Till date 25 M.Phils and 2 Ph.D have been completed on his novels in different universities. He has also written script for 26 episodes of TV Serial entitled Adharshila for DD Kissan Channel. Currently, he is working as Magazine Editor in Hindi Daily Dainik Savera.
