Dr. Mousumi Parida, is a bilingual fiction writer and poet as well as a novelist, columnist and editor of an e-magazine (in Odia) from Odisha, India. Her poems, short stories, novels have been widely published in various leading journals, newspapers, magazines and e-magazines and well acclaimed by the readers and analysers.
She was born in June 19th of 1975, as the only daughter of a doctor’s family at the district of Jagatsinghpur. At 1994 she presented her first story collection Samarpita to the Odia literature. She studied M.A in Library and information Science from Utkal University, Vani Bihar, Bhubaneswar. Then she completed M.A in Odia at 2001 from the same University. After that she has done Ph.D in Odia literature at 2015. Her academic career was amazing with her literary works.
A noted Odia literary figure Dr. Mousumi Parida has authored eight short stories collections—Samarpita,Jajabarar Ghara, Siulira Chaai, Parajita Swapno, Uhya Anuraga, Agalpa Galpa, Swikarokti, Sikta Kabari; four novels —O Pakhyanatara, Muhurtara Naada O Nisabda Juaara, Album, Aaina, Ice Cream, Parashmaniin Odia. She has also published two poetry collections —Pratikhyara Ante, Antahswara: Eka Swapna Bilasira, and an e-book —Pandarati Faguna: A Collections of Stories.
She has been writing poems since her childhood. She started publishing her first book Samarpita, a collection of stories, in 1994. Now she is working as a lecturer in the department of Odia at Jagatsinghpur district.
She has also been conferred with the prestigious ‘Kedarnath Gabesana Pratisthan Award’, ‘Rajadhani Pustakmela Award’, ‘Utkal Prativa Award’, ‘Kalinga Literary Award’ and many more acknowledgements for stories. Utkal Sahitya Samaj award for Novel and also felicitated as ‘Sahityashree Samman’ as a poet. Her story collection Swikarokti has been awarded as “Rajadhani Pustakmela Award of 2016” and also received “Paschima Novel Samman” of Bhubaneswar book fair on 2017 for her novel Album, Ice cream, Aaina.She achieved “Shantidevi Samman” in the literary field from Aparna Theatre-2018. She is multi-talented writer as poet, fictionist, novelist and columnist in Odia literature.
Her anthology of English poems entitledThe Flute: A Symbol of Love was published in 2018 by Authorspress.
She has also felicitated as ‘Bhubaneswar Samman-2017’ for her overall works in literature world. Also participated in several programmes of Odisha Sahitya Academy and Kendra Sahitya Academy. She has received several outstanding recognitions in writing excellence.
