A Translation of Select Critical Essays of Suresh Joshi, with a Critical Introduction contains the translation of the critical writings of the eminent Gujarati writer and critic. It comprises select critical essays which capture the historical context of the then Gujarati literary and critical practices. These essays also record the core ideas and arguments of Suresh Joshi as a critic. It dwells upon the convergence of ideas from the West and the then literary and critical practices. As a critique of the literary and critical practices, these essays provide a glimpse into the modern and postmodern leanings of Suresh Joshi and the beginning of a new era of literary criticism in Gujarat. A critical introduction contained in the book situates Suresh Joshi’s work and his ideas in the context.
