This book elaborates about what is science? What is scientific inquiry? Features of science writing, social responsibility of press, leading institutions engaged in science popularization, science fiction writing etc., through twelve chapters. Author says “In science the credit goes to the man who convinces the world, not to the man whom the idea first occurred.” The author also raises a question “Where is a trained science journalist?” In this book one chapter is devoted to Indian scenario of science communication. Author starts with the concept of “Understanding science”. He says “science literacy leads us to recognize three important aims of learning: Having scientific knowledge, nurturing scientific attitude and adopting scientific method which are very essential for building strong democracy.” In fact learning is for understanding, learning is for motivation for how to learn and learning is for how to assess one’s own learning.
