OrusIlyas is working as Assistant Professor in Department of Wildlife Sciences, AMU, Aligarh. She did her M.Sc. and Ph.D. from AMU. Her doctoral research was on "Status and conservation of ungulates in the Kumaon Himalayas with special reference to aspect of ecology of barking deer (Muntiacus muntjak) and goral (Nemorhaedus goral)". She has worked in various projects funded by different organization like WWF-India, CAPART, DANINDA, UPFD-TERI, OBC-Bird life International, DST-SERB, UGC-Govt of India. She has also worked as young scientist under Fast Track Program of DST, and surveyed high altitude Himalayas for conservation status of musk deer in Uttrakhand Himalayas. She is also Asia Coordinator for the Deer Specialist group of SSC/IUCN.
