Bhanumati Mishrateaches EnglishLiterature at Banaras Hindu University. She is a poet, painter and translator. She regularly contributes tovarious publications including The Hindu and Hindustan Times.Her short stories, book reviews, poems and translations can be found in national and international journals like TBR, Critical Flame, Asymptote, Nether, Cha, Ashvamegh and Muse India. Her focus is on Indian literature, performance studies and translations with special reference to women, ecology and culture. Her writings are marked with deep insight, empathy, and humour,blending the weft of reality with the warp of imagination. Her first book is titled Amitav Ghosh and his Oeuvre and is presently working on her debut novel. She lives in chaotic but mystic Varanasi, with her husband, children and the city’s perennially-dug roads.
