Sankari Sarkar


 

 

Born in Midnapore of Bengal, India on January 15, 1942 Sankari Prasad Sarkar had his degree in Science and in Metallurgical Engineering. He was born when World War II was in full fury and an all-out struggle for Indian Independence was going on. He had been engaged in the production of defense equipments, in industry as a consultant and finally in Bharat Heavy Electricals limited till his retirement as a Senior Deputy General Manager.

Despite his preoccupation with service and profession he nurtured his passion for poems. His first anthology of English poems titled For You stands published in August 2013 in US by Outskirts Press. It has earned acclaim from poetry lovers and readers.

Driven by passion and penchant for poetry, he has penned his second anthology of English poems entitled Songs of Man and Millennium (Volume1). It is an excellent collection of 25 exquisite poems devoted to the problems of modern man and millennium. His poem entitled Musing on Millennium is amazing and breath-taking. His poetic ability and command on contemporary problems such as religion, humanism, pitfalls of governance, nuclear non-proliferation, solution of ills and problems faced by man are simply superb. He shows rare ability of blending scientific sense with poetic presence in nature poems titled Canyon-Colo Symphony (Grand Canyon US), Dallas Rain. (in US) and Dilemma.

He is a path breaking poet of the present millennium writing poems of the present genre. Poems have all the facets of poetry containing scientific vision and poetic presence compatible with the present time. His book will enlarge the traditional reader base and attract people of science, technology, religion, philosophy, history, politicians and notably younger generation aiming at changing the world.
