Noted Feminist Writer Abburi Chaya Devi (1933 - ) Was born on 13th October 1933 In Rajahmundry, A.P. She Did M.A. (Politics) In 1953 And Diploma In Library Science In 1958. In 1953, She Married To Well-known Writer The Late Abburi Varadarajeswara Rao.

She Worked In The United Service Institution Of India Library, New Delhi (1959-61), Indian School Of International Studies Library (1961-72), And Jawaharlal Nehru University Library As Deputy Librarian (1972-82). She Voluntarily Retired From The Service In 1982.

Chaya Devi Continues To Be Active In Literary Activities Even At Her 70s. She Has Many Works To Her Credit Including Translation Of German Fiction, Collection Of Essays, A Biographical Novelette, A Travelogue On China And A Compilation Of 20th Century Women Writers In Telugu. She Is A Winner Of Many Awards Including Vasireddy Ranganayakamma Sahiti Puraskaram (1993), Smt. Suseela Narayana Reddy Award (1996), Rachayitri Uttama Rachana Puraskaram (1996), Kala Sagar—Pandiri Sahitya Puraskaram (2000), Sahitya Akademi Award (2005), Sri. P.V. Narasimha Rao Memorial Award (2006), Kalainger M Karunanidhi Porkhli Award (2009), Rangavalli Memorial Award For Out Standing Woman For The Year 2010, Sanathana Dharma Charitable Trust—Pratibha Puraskaram (2011) And Ajo-Vibho-Kandlam Foundation-Jeevitakala Sadhana Puraskaram, 2011.
